Pinched Nerves

The nerves in your body go out from your brain and spinal cord, they send important messages throughout your entire body. A common cause of nerve related arm or leg pain is compression of a spinal nerve. This condition is called “radiculopathy”, also know as pinched nerves, and can be extremely painful for our patients in the Spanish Fork area.

If you have a pinched nerve (when a nerve compresses) your body may send you warning signals such as pain. Do not ignore these signals.

Signs and symptoms of a pinched nerve often include, tingling, burning, numbness, pain, muscle weakness, stinging pain, such as pins and needles - the area may feel it has "fallen asleep". Your symptoms may also be worse when you lay down or just after waking up.

Pinched nerves can occur anywhere in the body, but most often happen in the neck, back, elbows, and wrists. Damage from a pinched nerve can be minor and temporary or can be more severe and be long lasting.

The earlier you get a proper diagnosis and treatment for nerve compression, the more quickly you'll find relief.
